Arrival from outside the EU or Schengen area
Proceed by the shortest practical route to a Croatian port open to international traffic and complete the required arrival formalities before cruising onward. Do not stop at an anchorage first unless an emergency makes this necessary.
Harbourmaster and arrival notification
Foreign yachts and boats must complete the applicable arrival notification and Croatian navigation requirements. A first arrival or changed vessel details may require personal attendance at a Harbourmaster’s Office or branch office.
Croatian navigation fee and e-vignette
Qualifying foreign yachts and boats must arrange the Croatian navigation-safety and marine-pollution-protection fee. Keep the payment certificate or electronic confirmation available aboard.
Tourist tax for boaters
Tourist tax may apply when people stay overnight aboard. It can be calculated by vessel length or by the number of people staying on the vessel.
Schengen and passport control
Croatia is in the Schengen area. Border and passport formalities are most relevant when arriving from or departing to a non-Schengen country such as Montenegro or Albania.
Customs and vessel status
Carry documents supporting the yacht’s registration, ownership or authorised use, insurance and VAT or customs status where relevant. Commercial, charter and third-country vessels may require additional review.

What is yacht clearance in Croatia?
Yacht clearance can involve the Harbourmaster's Office (Lučka kapetanija), Customs and Border Police. The required steps depend on the route, yacht flag and customs status, use of the vessel, and the nationalities aboard.
Do I need a yacht-clearance agent in Croatia?
Not every yacht must appoint an agent, but local support can be useful for an international arrival or departure, non-EU yacht, temporary admission, sojourn-tax question, mixed-nationality crew or urgent timing.
Which Croatian port should I choose?
Choose the first or last Croatian port relevant to the voyage and state where the yacht will actually berth. If your location is not listed, select Other port in the request form.
Does the sojourn tax apply to foreign yachts?
Foreign recreational vessels over roughly 7 metres are generally liable for a length-based sojourn tax and navigation safety fee, now typically registered online through eNautika/eVisitor. Confirm the current amount and process with the local agent.
Do I need to register a crew list in Croatia?
Arriving vessels must present a crew and passenger list. Charter operators generally register through the online e-Crew system, while private yachts should have a prepared crew list ready for the Harbourmaster.
When is passport control required?
Croatia joined Schengen in January 2023. Arrivals directly from another Schengen country generally face no border check, while arrivals from a non-Schengen country such as Montenegro require passport and customs control at an official port of entry.
